I've only had the phone for a couple months, but I have to say, a case for this phone is absolutely necessary. Everyone drops their phone accidentally, but this phone doesn't have the ability to handle it. I only dropped it once and the screen totally cracked. It still works, but it doesn't look very good. My sister bought the phone right after I did and got a case. Dropped it about ten times, not a single scratch. Otherwise, it's awesome. GPS, games, Yahoo, internet... And a QWERTY keyboard, perfect for texting.

I would recommend getting a different cover. This one feels nice to the touch and it does protect the phone, but it makes using the side buttons like the volume rocker, lock button, and camera button IMPOSSIBLE to press. It has a very loose fit around the sides.

The rubber really doesn't stay on the sides of the phone, just because of the sliding device on the phone. I wish I would have purchased a hard plastic cover. I would imagine that hard plastic would stay tighter on the sides and wouldn't hang off like this one.
They do protect the phone which will do for now.
