You’ve got to admit they’re getting better. The touchscreen multimedia phones are getting better all the time, and the next step could be taken by Samsung’s i900 phone –- it certainly has all the right specs for a phone that hasn’t been officially announced.

But that doesn’t stop us from checking out these awesome (and likely strategically released) first-look photos. The SGHi900 will be packed to the gills with features, including a 3.5-inch touch screen with a resolution of 240 x 400, a 5-megapixel camera, and 16GB of memory. In addition, it’ll run a quadband GSM, 3G, HSDPA (at 7.2 Mbps), plus
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a microSD port and (the rumor mill might have gone too far here) a bottle opener. I think that last one is false.

But the Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 OS running on the phone will indeed be real, as will the tears running down your dewy face, wishing for that next level Windows phone OS to finally come through and give a real challenge to the upstart systems of Google’s Android and Apple’s
Safari brew. But probably the best thing about the phone is the excellent silver metal casing. Yes, it’s somewhat borrowed from that other phone, but it looks good here. Maybe that’s why these pictures mysteriously appeared in the blogosphere this week — they have one week to go before any other touch screen multimedia phones are run off the page by Apple’s second coming.

Here are more of the rumored specs and more pics:

- An integrated GPS receiver
- 256 MB of RAM
- 16 GB of ROM
- A miniUSB 2.0 port
- TV out
- Full dimensions are 11.2×5.6×1.3 cm
